Diving and underwater photography have brought first Alex and then Eunice to Dauin, and eventually to one another. Drawn by the Philippines’ natural beauty and friendly people, they left their respective metropolitan lives in Korean and settled down inDumaguete-Dauin.
When Alex, a professional underwater photographer and technical diver, first visited the area, he was blown away by the bio-diversity of the underwater world. What convinced him was the combination of serenely beautiful coast of Dauin and its proximity to the world-class diving of Apo Island and Sumilon Island. In 2016, Alex opened Aldive. In his spare time, Alex returns to his first love of underwater photography. His photographs are frequently published on columns and magazines, sharing the unique sights of underwater lives to everyone on land.
A marketing executive in Seoul, Eunice used to find her sanctuary in diving to unwind from the jet-setting life. Until she met Alex on one of her dive holidays, and decided to pack away her business suits for a wetsuit. Today she runs ALDIVE with Alex and calls Dauin home. To further her knowledge, Eunice has enrolled in the marine biology program at the Silliman University Dumaguete, since then, she has gained a wealth of respect for the sea creatures and their habitat. Her expertise has made her an indispensable part of the dive team and a treasured dive buddy.
Alex and Eunice are advocates for environmental protection and sustainable tourism. They hold monthly clean-up days at Aldive and are active participants in local and international conservation events. They also believe in the power of communication through images. For them, underwater photography is more than a hobby. It is a passion that brings people together and connect them to creatures big and small through their lens. So, come for a dive and let their enthusiasm be your guide!
